ICICLES

A part of me cried today, after reading this.

http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2017/01/05/death-penalty-reinstated-on-religious-teacher/

http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/368231

I had written about this case, here.

http://firdaus-9898.blogspot.my/2013/06/tears-in-heaven.html

I just sat in solemn silence.

There's no need to talk about politics too.

Somehow the religious school is sponsored by an opposition party, but let's not feel politicised about it, at least they did something to save orphaned kids.

Maybe at that moment, some shit just screwed up at that exact point, and who am I to criticise that?

Deep down I feel lost, knowing a child lost his life.

This is a song about an innocent
Who died at the hands of a desperate man
He trusted those who he thought he knew
He trusted those who he looked up to
I'll never forget the joy in his face
He'd laugh and he'd cry and he'd ruin my place
He'd drive me crazy, and he'd drive me wild
I used to scream and shout all day long

Now I hope you know this song
Is about a child who now has gone
And other children like him, too
Abused and used by what adults do
So don't tell me about politics
Or all the problems of our economics
When you can't look after what you can't own
You scream and shout all day long

CHICKEN NOISES

Anyhow,

I'm not like those people in Facebook who go all screwed up and noisy about Coco (a malay girl who can't speak Malay), about tudung girls who went up and climb 'IPOH' billboard and called them monkeys,

(I'm implying to you that those stories become 'news' because I sincerely think that those noisy people are actually sexist, seeing the way they comment, must somehow include pornographic language)

Anyhow, for new year, I bought this book. And fascinated by what I read.

I have not finished reading it. But I've done the chapter on Schema.

I will summarise it the best I could.

Our brain uses schema as a tool to process info and judge decision as fast as it could. And so, one have many pre-conceived notions on anything. This built-in tool let us cope with demanding complexities of the world at a fast rate.

But, sometimes, those schemas are just plainly wrong, and might cause wrong results, or unwanted behaviour.

And so, it is good, to do some introspection and question your preconceived notions.

And your preconceived notions is reflected in your behaviour, or what you commented on Facebook.

(I'm implying to you that those stories become 'news' because I sincerely think that those noisy people are actually sexist, seeing the way they comment, must somehow include pornographic language)

And so, if you have a Facebook account,

look back at what you wrote. If you feel ashamed, delete it.

And I don't want to comment much about those people, and bla bla about changing to a better society, why most Malays seems so sexist, etc.

I'm just bothered to change that fella I saw in the mirror.

BYSTANDER EFFECT

And one of recent life story that interconnects with the Richard Nisbett "Mindware", was when my wife, my in-law parents, and myself, went to Flat Sri Sabah to enjoy yong tau foo as above photos.

What happened was, we heard screams across the road.

It was raining then, and so I assumed there's an accident that happened.

My wife went on to take a look.

I did not. I stayed at the table waiting for the yong tau foo. My mother in law also waited.

Wife and her father went to the scene.

Then they came back explaining to us.

A motorcyclist had fallen due to the slippery road. Wife told us a descriptive story about a fallen motorcyclist while enjoying the yong tau foo.

I asked my wife. Did you help the guy?

No, she did not.

She went on and on describing the scene without lifting a finger to help that poor fallen motorcyclist.

And so, the interconnection with the story about Coco and Ipoh girls,

Question yourself,
what was so interesting about it, that people talked and joked about it, in the first place?

To me, it was all just something called group-think

And again,
And I don't want to comment much about those people, and bla bla about changing to a better society, why most Malays seems so sexist, etc.
I just think that knowing these facts, helps you to find some peace of mind in the world of social media.

When you lose small minds you free your life
